Við Slippinn, oil painting on linen, 12 x 18in
Again. I seem to be drawn to subjects like this one. An old fishing boat covered in rust and full of interesting texture and shapes. It did not spoil the mood that it was being brilliantly backlit and with an ominous cloud front coming up behind.
I decided to give the boat, which was my main focus the most attention to detail, while treating everything else very loosely. I used my palette knife loaded up with pure white with a touch of cadmium yellow pale to indicate the intense light on the clouds.
